The Insider's Tell-All Handbook On Weight Training Technique
This book covers technique for various exercises like the Squat, Bench Press, etc. in great, great detail.
With McRobert's emphasis on safety, this is not your typical technique book covering each exercise with a couple of paragraphs.
This book has extensive descriptions on setup and execution, along with many illustrative photos to guide you every step of the way.
In my opinion, you wont find a more meticulous book on the finer points of Weight Training technique. |

Brawn
If you're one of the millions of would be bodybuilders who have been slogging away in pursuit of your competition winning physique, fruitlessly doing everything the latest 'champion' bodybuilder says to the letter, this is the book for you. This book goes into great detail what actually does work for those not blessed with the combination of freakish genetics and anabolic narcotics.
Unlike most books on the subject, this book spends 10 chapters talking about the important aspects to successful strength training and bodybuilding before outlining any routines. Very informative.
The author also has two further additions in the Brawn series available entitled Beyond Brawn, and Further Brawn.

Strength Training Anatomy, by Frederic Delavier
This book takes exercise technique instruction to a new level. Each exercise is illustrated, rather than photographed, overlaying the important muscles, bones, and joints being used in each exercise onto the illustrations. Each exercise goes into great detail in terms of muscles used, not just listing the major groups, but all the smaller muscles often glossed over in exercise diagrams.
This author also has an edition specifically targeted at women entitled Women's Strength Training Anatomy. |

Target Bodybuilding, by Per A Tesch, Ph.D
Although this book is packaged and marketed for Bodybuilders, in my opinion, the information is invaluable to all strength trainers.
Tesch lists several common exercises and variations, then uses MRI technology to determine which parts of the muscle are being worked by them and to what extent.
The only thing letting this book down is the example routines printed at the back. But this section could just as easily be ignored and the book used solely as a valuable resource when choosing which exercises should make up your routine. |
